“To improve is change; to be perfect is to change often”
Tempest Fire Protection was founded in 1997 by Jack Richardson on the idea that Alberta construction needed a high-integrity, relationship-focused fire protection company. He was determined to build a reputable company known for a job well done and based on the trust of a handshake. In 2014, our current president Adam Richardson completed the acquisition of Tempest and fully transitioned into leadership after 12 years in the field and office. Our founder’s vision continues to be our vision today: a company built on the speed of trust with a focus on delivering customers enduring value and quality service.
In 2016 Tempest embraced the challenges of a changing business landscape and the pervasive ineffectiveness of traditional construction to formalize a Continuous Improvement initiative. By combining the in-house expertise of the fire protection industry with the wisdom of the Toyota Production System, Tempest created a recipe for success. Rooted in the principles of lean construction, Tempest now works daily to minimize waste and maximize customer value.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships”
Every project is simply a collection of people unified to one common goal and, therefore, without great people a company cannot deliver great projects. At Tempest, “teamwork” isn’t a motivational poster of a rowing team hanging in above the coffee machine in the staff lounge – it’s the dedicated, diverse and dynamic team that is the engine of the Tempest Way. Collectively we have over 150 years of experience. Put into action, that expertise translates into added value for our customers by way of the knowledge and creative solutions we can provide.
More than experienced sprinkler fitters and service technicians, we are husbands and fathers, hockey coaches and volunteers. We are not a team because we work together. We are a team because we respect, trust and care for each other and the clients we serve.
